Browning a5 shotgun serial numbers

The owner of this early 16ga A5 believes it is a first year gun. The factory stamped serial number on the loading port looks like serial number 5300. This is out of the first year range. It also has a second number stamped on the loading port, 34212. This number appears to have been added later.
