Check engine light on a chevy cruze

My cruze 2010 ignition is okay but soon after ignition it starts to misfire for about 20 seconds and concurrently it shows a constant check engine light. After the misfiring period it self revs to about 1500rpm for about 5 seconds and then goes to normal. Upon firing normally the check engine check light starts to flick on and off.
