New brakes (pads, rotors, and clips) all the way around yet there is still a clicking noise that increases with speed in the front end. Mar 17, 2013 · I have an 01 duramax that I recently replaced headgaskets in. Shortly after the headgasket job a ticking noise appeared. I think it sounds like a lifter ticking. Possibly a lifter loosened up a little after it has been running. A friend of mine disagrees. He says it is injectors ticking because they are bad. The injector ballance rates are very good, as the truck has 40k on it. I can't locate it, it's easily heard from both passenger and drivers side of truck.
