Though the Summoner is not directly getting reprinted in the Remaster, the new rules and options shake up quite a bit for any class, and as such, I've updated my guide to reflect that.

For me the familiar is a key aspect of a witch. The iconic witch is always drawn with the familiar. It's how you recognise a witch from another caster in the iconic tropes.
