Marlin firearms serial number lookup

If the serial number starts with a "MR" it is assembled and made in the Remington factory. It should be stamped ahead of the receiver on the left side of the barrel. And welcome to the forum. Also if it has a MR serial number it should be on the left side of the receivwer. If it is a Marlin the serial number would be on the tang.

No chance, the first serial numbers ran from 1- ending in 1915 at 450000, models 1881 up to the 1897. The early first 1893s were in 80000 range.
