There's no need to retrofit your reloader until/unless these become unavailable. Replacing with the Hornady fingers is a lot less work.

I removed one and placed it in the shot reservoir on my Grabber machine. The bar sticks much less than before and works acceptably.

I had a few issues with my new one, and contacted MEC which was pretty much useless. Problem1 : Operating handle jammed in the up position. MEC said I didn't have it mounted on a bench.I own and rebuild lots of older MEC loaders and have and use many of the older "fixed" bars. The 12-0 bar will still throw 18 to 18.5gr. of Red Dot and 18.5 to 19gr. of Green Dot with 1&1/8oz. of shot. I use these in old MEC 300 and 400 model loaders with Fed. paper hulls. The current style allows the 8300 wad guides to slide right into the rod. The old version you had to unsrew a cap and take out the orange wad guide fingers and put the new one in screwing the cap back on to lock in the wad guide. For use on the following presses ONLY. Wipe the dirt off and oil the parts that move with the exception of the charge bar and the hinge where the top folds back. They do not need any lubrication. The charge bar needs to be clean and if you lube it at all, a little graphite or silicon spray will do the trick.
